Supporters of the creation of a Yoruba nation told the Nigerian government that they do not cooperate with the Movement for the Independence of Biafra (IPOB) This was in response to a statement by the federal government warning that they should not cooperate with Biafra's guerrilla group, IPOB. Since September 14, 2021, Yoruba Nation activists and other Nigerian ethnic groups have protested at UN Headquarters in New York. The announcement comes as the President of the Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and other world leaders address the world during UN General Assembly.
